From the 4th
4th of July in New England never disappoints. The towns are filled with flags and buntings, boats fly their signal flags, and spirit abounds everywhere you go. Antique cars and vintage rides cruise Main Street and everyone is out enjoying the day. It’s so festive. Even though we didn’t have our parades and firework displays, we still enjoyed what we could.
We were supposed to be on Nantucket and our youngest ended up very sick the morning of our departure, so we stayed close to home. We have delayed that trip for another time this summer. It will just be another thing to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
We were able to enjoy the holiday weekend a little, so here’s some highlights…
We stopped into one of our haunts for a meal and little boat shopping. We have started the process and are trying to narrow down what we really want. It was great to look at them for sale on the docks and not be bothered by sales people since it was the holiday. We have a lot of things to learn, so until we are ready to purchase it’s nice to window shop.
We joined our neighborhood that night in a little block party and fireworks. It was socially distanced and everyone watched the fireworks from their own yards. We picked up some sparklers and light sticks last minute for everyone. I love how sparklers bring a little joy no matter what age you are.
I hope you all had a nice holiday weekend! It didn’t quite feel normal, since a lot of the festivities were cancelled, but we made our own fun. Hopefully, next year will be a different story.
